This bike safety video might scare and/or confuse you but that’s part of the fun. Thanks to @sburgay for the find!

1963 Bicycle Safety Film entitled “One Got Fat”. A group of monkey-masked kids decide to ride their bikes to the park for a picnic. Along the way, one by one, the kids are knocked out of the ride due to careless or unsafe riding. Narration by Edward Everett Horton of “Fractured Fairytales” (Old Rocky and Bullwinkle) fame.

Update: Ok. We messed up. Mike commented below showing us a pic of him covering his helmet in reflector tape. Yay!

Does anyone else find it humorous that this kid made a bright bike to be “safety first” but then doesn’t wear a helmet?

Smart Bike DC Featured Video on YouTube Today 0

We love to see organizations making the roads a safer place for cyclists. Smart Bike DC in collaboration with the Dept of Transportation is one such bike sharing operation. You can learn more about them from their four minute video on YouTube which is competing in YouTube’s Project Report contest. Check them out. Vote for them. They’ve got the right idea.
